2025 Busan Cherry Blossom Blooming Period Prediction

In previous years, Busan’s cherry blossoms usually reached full bloom from late March to early April. However, in recent years, due to earlier warm weather, the blooming period of cherry blossoms in Korea has been earlier than before. When will Busan’s cherry blossoms reach full bloom? Besides referring to the blooming predictions on Korean cherry blossom forecast websites, you can also predict it based on the timing of the “Jinhae Gunhangje Festival“.

The annual “Jinhae Gunhangje Festival” is held during the full bloom period of Jinhae’s cherry blossoms. Therefore, the festival’s dates each year indicate the full bloom period of Jinhae’s cherry blossoms. Since Busan is near Jinhae and at the same latitude, the blooming period is the same. This means that the dates of the “Jinhae Gunhangje Festival” usually coincide with the full bloom period of Busan’s cherry blossoms.

The 2025 Jinhae Gunhangje Festival will be held from March 28 to April 6, 2025, lasting for 10 days. Therefore, it is expected that these 10 days will be the full bloom period for cherry blossoms in both Jinhae and Busan. If you want to see the most beautiful cherry blossoms in Busan, you should visit during this period, which means late March to early April 2025 will likely be the full bloom period for Busan’s cherry blossoms.

Cherry blossom trees are not planted everywhere in Busan. To enjoy cherry blossoms in the city, you need to visit some spots where cherry blossom trees are concentrated. There are several cherry blossom spots in Busan, but the most worthwhile ones are the Gwangan Cherry Blossom Road and the Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road. Below, we introduce these two cherry blossom spots and how to get there.

1. Busan’s Beautiful Cherry Blossom Tunnel: Gwangan Cherry Blossom Road

The Gwangan Cherry Blossom Road is a pedestrian path by the Nakdong River in Sasang, Busan. The long path is lined with many cherry blossom trees, and during the full bloom period, walking along this path feels like being inside a cherry blossom tunnel. It’s incredibly romantic, and even Jinhae’s cherry blossoms might not compare.

The Gwangan Cherry Blossom Road is located near the Busan West Intercity Bus Terminal, about 600 meters from the Sasang Station on Busan Metro Line 2 (Green Line), which takes about 8-9 minutes to walk.

After exiting from Exit 3 of Sasang Station, walk along the elevated track for about 8 minutes, and you will see Home Plus and the nearby elevated light rail station. Take the escalator up to the station and cross the pedestrian bridge to reach the Gwangan Cherry Blossom Road.

If you don’t want to walk, you can also take the elevated light rail from Sasang Station and get off at Gwangan Station after one stop. Cross the pedestrian bridge to reach the Gwangan Cherry Blossom Road.

2. Cherry Blossom Scenery in a Residential Area: Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road

The Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road is a road in Namcheon-dong, Busan, lined with many cherry blossom trees. During the full bloom period, it feels like walking through a cherry blossom tunnel. However, Namcheon-dong is a residential area, and the cherry blossom road is also a main road for residents, so there are often vehicles passing by. Be careful when taking photos on the road and avoid affecting traffic.

Namcheon-dong is located on the eastern seaside of Busan, next to Gwangalli Beach and Gwangandaegyo Bridge. To get to the Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road, you can take Busan Metro Line 2 (Green Line) and get off at Namcheon Station or Geumnyeonsan Station, then walk for about 12 to 16 minutes. However, there is a small hill between Namcheon Station and the Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road, which requires going up and down slopes, making it a bit strenuous. Therefore, it is recommended to get off at Geumnyeonsan Station and walk from there.

From Geumnyeonsan Metro Station (Exit 3), the walk to Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road is about 800 meters, taking around 12 minutes. Along the way, you will pass by Gwangalli Beach and can also see Gwangandaegyo Bridge, offering nice scenery.

The Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road is located between the blue and yellow buildings next to Gwangalli Beach.

If you get off at Namcheon Metro Station, you will have to walk up this hill slope, and the distance will be about 200 meters longer. There are no special views along the way.
